As a dane I can maybe answer this.
We are very patriotic and conservative when it comes to our culture and cultural identity. "We" want to protect it (cultural identity) both because we like it (semtimental value) but also because it has monetary value (tourism), which is also why we preserve stuff like "the old town" in aarhus.
Our danish kroners are tied to the value of the euro anyway.

As your surname suggests, you are of scandinavian roots. You even look danish.
Are you danish?
If yes, do you have family in Denmark, that you keep in touch with?
Have you ever been to Denmark? What did you think of it? Culture wise it's very different..
What are your political views? Thinking military budget, welfare, how veterans are treated after they come home, etc.
Thanks.

Speaking of welfare, did you consider moving on from germany into Scandinavia (denmark, sweden, norway)?
It's really a hot, depressing, debate in /r/Denmark at the moment, but I would like your(or if you know other syrians opinions) thoughts on these places, and why you didn't go there, if possible.
