Yeah, they're only burning the diesel and using the heat for propulsion through the sterling (heat driven) engines.

I don't know much of wargames, but I thought the idea was to simulate real conditions? As in the carriers having proper escorts like they would in a real situation? Perhaps that would involve way too many ships to be feasible.
