Hi OP My father was murdered when I was 15. My heart goes out to you. I also know what its like to go through the trials, police work, drama. If you ever need someone to shoot the shit about it feel free to send me message.

As a Canadian who worked at mcdonald, yes they do toast them. They (atleast when I was there) go through a top loaded conveyer that toasts as they go from top to bottom... but the whole process takes like 15-20 seconds so really how toasted could they get.
