This is what life in the Army felt like to me. Most of the time me and my battlebuddies would be snarking at each other or just outright arguing and yelling, but when shit hits the fan damn we fell right into sync. Although in our case it was probably because the faster we finished the sooner we could go back to bickering.

Former Army here. You're not bragging. What most people don't realize is that stories of war drive home to civilians why conflicts are bad. Without stories from servicemen coming back, the average person would have no idea the horrors that young men have to deal with. Or that ideals tend to last until the first firefight and then it becomes protecting your brothers and sisters. That no matter how lofty our goals are, when the shit hits the fan it's all about watching over ourselves and each other. Showing our scars is not bragging. It's informing the people about what happens in the world so that hopefully future generations can continue to seek out peace.

Word of advice: At night, instead of flashing your brights, flick them off twice in succession. Truckers don't like being blinded by your brights in their mirrors.

Also, flashing your turn signals Left Right Left is a common way of saying thank you.

I had one of the teeth pop out when I was tearing away at jerky. Didn't even realize it until I bit down on said tooth.
