What about voting on sources?

Edit: yeah i didnt think my comment through what i meant to say is along these lines:

Yes of course i guess i meant have a rating system for the sources. A video from a bystander of an event that was uploaded before there was enough time to edit it would have the highest possible rating for example.

sorry to not include this earlier but how about starting costs(backpack,tent,sleepingbag,camelback?) and periodic overhead (shoes). I am seriously interested in pursuing something similar, is there any sort of resource i should be looking at?
