I'm a writer who has thus far avoided POD (for now) so I kind of understand this opinion. However, these days there are a lot of valid reasons to skip the traditional publishing route. Generally, nobody cares how or who publishes a work they enjoy. There are plenty of self-publishing successes now for it to be a viable, but still hard, way to get your work out there. Ultimately, no matter how it's printed, the writer is responsible to the reader.

As someone who also grew up as a male figure skater I faced some bullying and brutal innuendos, which I always took with good humor. Have you faced this type of thing and how have you dealt with it?

Also, I loved playing hockey growing up too, but got a lot of resistance from my coaches and parents mixing hockey and figure skating. How do your coaches approach it?

Good luck, and congrats. It's nice to have a male figure skater who skates like a guy. Not that I don't enjoy the others, but it's good to have a mix. Keep it up.
