Hey Father I'm a practicing Catholic and honestly love my faith with all my heart, and have never been afraid to tell people I'm Catholic despite some of the circles I'm in. I understand that we have to have obedience to the church but there is one issue I just can't see eye to eye on and that issue is marijuana. It's something I've always wanted to discuss with a priest, and I have never been able to since most of the priests I know I am also friends with and I wouldn't want them knowing I smoke. I just don't understand how the church isn't for prohibition of alcohol but is for marijuana. I know this sounds dumb but in many ways I feel like weed has helped bring me closer to God at times when my life was chaotic, it helps me clear my mind and think deeper. although I do understand any addiction or obsession in any context is bad I just feel that marijuana is getting unfair classification and treatment simply because the government made it illegal. I guess my question is what is your stance on the issue of marijuana? God bless father!
