Something to do with being able to see the barrier is ACTUALLY breakable, changes a lot in your head. Unless its swimming, then its just a new suit....

For what it's worth, I live in nsw and afaik it's only p platers that aren't allowed an open container of alcohol. I haven't ever heard of any one getting booked for it either, kinda goes against the designated driver idea if your mates can't drink either. Edit: see reply, I stand corrected

If you mean ensuring the structures that make up the station itself, there is a routine in place for every station that involves turning it off, testing nominated areas (my job) and ensuring everything is still within specifications.

As for a regulatory body, im not sure. All the work we do as compliance testing is done to australian or american standards.
