Do you use a wheelchair because you're healing? Or has it gotten to a point where you can't walk without a high chance of fracturing something?

I’ve been playing a little game called Wolfenstein 2 recently that takes place in an alternate 1960s where the Nazi’s won WWII. In the game the KKK partner with the Nazis. How realistic would this have been if it actually happened?
