I'm an ex-pat in Thailand and over here There's been under 4000 cases and about 60 deaths, even though the first reported case outside of China was here.
The Thais all started to wear face masks long before any mandatory measures came into place, and not just shops or out with friends. I've seen Thais walking along deserted roads with nobody for miles and they are wearing face masks. They go on when they leave the home and stay on until they go home, and contrary to popular belief, Thais aren't traditionally mask wearers like Japan or China.
Some have argued that the fact Thais don't man-handle each other when meeting like us westerners do. There's no handshaking, no hugging, no kissing cheeks, just hands together and namaste and this was a big contributor.
Others have said the low numbers are due the high temperatures here.
My question is, do you think the early mask response could have had been a reason for low cases, and do you think a very old tradition of hand shaking should be ditched voluntarily by people for good?

That's amazing, I never knew pigeons did all that. I've often noticed gulls at the seaside who I was convinced were just playing around in the sky, riding the breeze, doing little twirls and dive bombing. Are they known for it too? Thanks for this AMA. I rarely find such a random one so fascinating!
