Ah. This makes sense.

land Also gets desertified by industrial monocropping.

Livestock does not cover 45% of the earth’s land; livestock agriculture + livestock, might cover that much. I advocate grass fed, nature mimicking mob grazing, only, not feedlot cows, which are being fed nutrient depleted corn and soybeans.

Finally, 1 acre supports a whole beef cow, approx 1600lbs. This is being increasingly done with the aforementioned nature mimicking mob grazing. Unfortunately that’s not being done with conventional feedlot operations. Hopefully we’ll also as increasingly diversify our meat sources with exotic animals like Asian yak, they are 30% more efficient lb for lb, than beef.

Vegetation can feed people, but what quality feed are you talking about? Vegetation does not have the same protein density as red meats/dairy. One 10oz steak contains over 100% of essential and nonessential amino acids, while oats are the only easily available plant to contain ALL essential amino acids; it takes heaps of any preferred vegetable based protein to attain the same amount of protein as one 10oz steak. Not to mention red meat is an easy source of b vitamins and iron.

Exactly this. My mom went on a college trip to Thailand in the 70s, and she was stared at the whole time, the black guy that went with them experienced the same. Anybody with blonde/red hair who goes to primitive places in Africa/South America, will experience the same. I wish it wasn’t considered insensitive to be visually inquisitive toward somebody you’ve never been around. Isn’t it a little degrading toward 3rd world peeps for saying they aren’t conscientiously advanced enough to be judged on par with a white for gazing at someone different?
