Y'know, real estate is super dirt cheap up here in northwestern Minnesota, and there's tons of oil jobs available in nearby North Dakota that require nothing but a high school diploma; there's 19 year olds up here making 50-60k a year. Have you considered moving?

Extreme northwest Minnesota, about 45-50 miles north of Grand Forks. Just to give you an idea of what living up here is like, we live in a very small town, maybe 500 people. Oil jobs aren't the only jobs available; seasonal farm jobs pay reasonably well too. We bought our house outright for maybe 24k, and it's a 4bd/2ba 140 year old house in great condition. Everyone in town is super friendly; my neighbor offered to help me rebuild my basement and loan me the tools/materials for a case of beer. I would highly recommend living up in this area to anyone. Great people, low cost of living, good opportunities.
