In quran (the book that all muslims agree on but interpret it differently) it didn't state anything about if it's permitted/forbidden to force a girl to get married.

So scholars debate about it, most of them rely on quotes of prophet (Hadith) that states it forbidden to force a girl to get married but other scholars question if the quotes were true.

In many Islamic countries it is forbidden to force someone to get married. Sadly there are still some poorer communities that would force their girls because of poverty, the husband may provide a good life for their girl.

Other non-muslim communties that force girls to get married (Even in that tradition pre-dates islam) are usually poor and uneducated.

This verse talks about a pre-islam tradition when a man dies a male family member inherets the wife as she was a slave! That's a different matter if the father can force his daughter to get married to someone she doesn't want.

There was no official birth record then, oral history isn't accurate as stories passed from one generation to other.

Al Bukhari started to collect sayings and stories about The prophet 200 years after the prophet death. Most of the stories were not documented, it was an oral history that passed through several generations. They passed through a time where Islamic nation faced a turbulent tims that formed the different sects of Islam. That time some political parties attempted to infiltrate many stories and facts for political gains. He's not even sure of Aisha's age but he believes that's the most accurate story. He had a huge influence and his opinion got treated like a fact.

Other studies that tell that she was in her late teens when she got married had supporting arguments if you are that really interested you can search about them and judge by yourself.

There are several conflicting stories about the birth year of Aisha, Some stories claim that she was an adult when she got married. nobody knows how old she was when she got married. Most sources say she was 17.

If she was 9, then she will be just 18 when the prophet died, If you read her biography she had a huge social and political roles

Women used to consult her to deliver their issues to the prophet. If she was young then they would go to the other wives who would be older than her.

And 1400 years ago most if not all cultures around the world considered girls who started puberty as adults. Even though we consider it as a disgusting thing but it was common around the globe and in many religions! I don't know why only Islam get bashed for it.
