Fellow Eagle here. I don't really get how you can have a problem with meeting in a church if it's your charter organization. If you're chartered by a Church, then you signed up to be connected to a religious organization. I'm fairly non-religious (Deist) but I never had a problem with meeting in a church or even the annual Scout Sunday in which Scouts were encouraged to participate in the charter organization's church service.

Fellow Deist Eagle Scout. I don't think you need to be at all religious to be reverent. I think being reverent should be a matter of respecting others' religious beliefs.
