To piggyback on this question, if machines do not innately have pain receptors or true "motivation," how can we truly fear that they will develop a need for survival or do actions outside of initial programming parameters?

I understand, I guess I just don't see the problem if there is no actual nervous system and pain or pleasure systems that would make AI answer that problem with, "kill all humans, so we can be a mighty race."
