I cracked up at the thought of Aaron innocently asking Woody about the prom thing.

How often do you run into people on the trail? I have a good buddy from Boston named Jeremy who was going the other direction, so I thought about the possibility of internet stranger hanging with my bud in the woods.

Amazing that they put any effort into something like this, obviously for the purpose of PR, and then fucking botch it. Who advises these people to do this shit?

What do you think of foreign tourism to DPRK? I visited in 2014, and I left with the feeling that more people should go. My justification was that it was a relatively low amount of money spent, so I don't see it as a massive contribution to the regime, and that people to people interactions are valuable on both sides. I know that every experience I had was orchestrated, but we interacted with hundreds of people, even walking through a park in Pyongyang during a national holiday and it was packed. I do believe that we had some genuine personal interaction with people there. I left with much more sympathy to the people and an interest in what is happening there. Reading comments on news out of DPRK shows that much of the outside world do not think of the actual people living their lives outside of the regime and the concentration camps.
