No it is not painful at all :)

My daughter has one. Basically the helmet restricts growth on the bulging parts and allows space for the flattened spots to grow. They really aren't sure about the effects of leaving it alone and not treating it. For a lot of children it gets better on it's own, but after 2 years of age you can't change the head shape because the most rapid growth is during the first 2 years. They don't mold the head, they only redirect the growth. So if you don't do it now, you lose the chance to fix it. So even though my daughter's wasn't very severe we decided to go for it.

It can potentially lead to jaw alignment issues, make glasses sit on your face wrong, cause facial asymmetry, etc. My daughter hadn't gotten to that point yet, but I wanted to nip it in the bud.

So much this. Men often really do not realize the difference between feeling like you could truly defend yourself if necessary and feeling powerless to someone else’s whim.

Have you been tested for blood clotting disorders? My father had a PE and when they ran the tests they discovered he had Factor V leiden. I got tested and also have it, along with ANOTHER clotting disorder, this one from my mother.

I was immediately taken off hormonal birth control and have had to take lovenox (blood thinners) during pregnancy.

I am amazed I never had a blood clot during the 5 years I was on hormonal birth control (including nuvaring). I am sad my dad had to have a blood clot, but he was fine and the knowledge gained from that potentially has saved my life!
