Not the MP but according to Labour's Andy Burnham they voted that way because the snooper's charter replaced temporary rules that were set to expire. So it was either these rules or no rules.

“The simple fact is that Britain needs a new law in this area. Outright opposition, which some are proposing tonight, risks sinking the Bill and leaving the interim laws in place.......it would leave the public with much weaker safeguards in place and I am not prepared to do that either..."

I'm not being funny but you do realise that question is a political bear-trap right. Did you really expect him to answer it?

Yeah but it was a two part question. He answered the part not about pornography.

Do you have any sites in the Midlands?

Living in Brum it sometimes feels like pre-indistrial history is just something that happened to other parts of the country.

Well I have to say I'm genuinely impressed that is a good answer.

But the problem is that would definitely constitute a policy announcement. I'm no expert in the inner workings of Labour. But I'd assume a statement like that would require a lot of paperwork and pre-approval. Not to mention a significantly larger media presence than a reddit AMA.

Hopefully we'll see something like that announced or in their next manifesto.
