What do you make of the stories of dispatchers who refuse to send help when the caller uses a lot of profanity, or sounds like a hoax call?

Better than PSD is to use a ruler and a mirror:

Balance the ruler horizontally across your nose.

Close one eye and line-up the zero mark to the center of that pupil.

Close that eye and read the MM mark at the center of the other open eye.

Do this several times for error-checking.

I believe the big problem with that study was that they were weighing the entire bed that the person was in. It's quite easy to fudge the finals a bit when the body is only a small percentage of what's being weighed.
