They're crap if they act like you're a disgusting person for having herpes. They can politely decline to take things further with someone after you've had the talk. You've trusted them with what is likely one of your deepest secrets, and if they treat you like you're filth after that, fuck 'em.

When I contracted herpes, I wasn't given a choice, and that's a really shit feeling. I'll never do that to anyone and I'll hope that they can respect the courage it takes to have that conversation when the stigma around herpes, especially genital, is so prevalent.

Thanks for doing this, dude. I have hsv2 on my ladyparts after a non-consensual encounter and it was a tough pill to swallow at first. Bad enough when someone engages in sex with you without disclosing, but even worse (if I may) when it wasn't consensual in the first place.

But herpes isn't so bad; it's just putting yourself out there against* the stigma with the potential for stinging rejection.

I'm fortunate enough to have not been rejected for it. One guy was just really willing to try to be safe about it, and the other, when I disclosed, cut me off and said, "i listen to a lot of Love Line. Say no more." Haha. That was cool.

Have you ever gotten a "me, too" when you had the talk?

Edit: typo

Well now I've got to know what headphones a quick subtitler prefers.
