Not sure if AppleCare is different, but that is NOT the discount for ARS employees. The great majority (that I have interacted with) seem to genuinely like the Apple ecosystem.

I am aware of the corporate structure, but I have been introduced to odd AppleCare/ARS differences by some former APL/current ARS friends and thought that may have been one. Main point was that I certainly do not get $500 + 25% off an out of contract phone every year.
