Do you think that your drive to not only join the military but be in such an elite group was in part motivated by the same feelings?

I really didn't realize how global English was until I traveled. I met couples where one was Japanese and the other Chinese, and English was the language they spoke together. I saw French tourists speaking to Thai waitresses in English. I met Russians who worked in Taiwanese tech firms that used English at work. Really, it's amazing how much English has penetrated the world.
