Essentially, the whole idea of cleanses or detoxes is bunk. Those juice fasts, that strange idea of eating clay, water fasting, etc., etc. They're based around the idea that your body needs time without food to clear toxic effects of various kinds of foods.

In reality, they do literally nothing, and by their nature (as many involve some kind of fasting), they can be very harmful. It's basically like just not eating for a couple weeks no months at a time. There aren't going to be any good short or long term health effects form it, and there are definitely some fairly serious eating disorders which can arise from the belief in them -- e.g., anorexia nervosa
