To answer all the questions:

Source: I'm a Jew who paid attention in Hebrew School

According to Conservative Judaism ("moderately religious"), it is a sin. The reasoning I heard is that because God brought you into this world and you were made in His image; although you have free will, it's like an insult to God to take advantage of it by ending your life early through entirely your own actions and choices.

Personally, I'm at a point in my life where I don't know what to believe any more (but fuck off r/atheism, I don't want to talk to you). However, I think that you should have the right to end your own life in order to avoid pain and suffering.

Fun fact: this is the exact dilemma that happened at Masada (Quick backstory: Romans take over Israel, Jews rebel, make last stand at impenetrable mountain fort, commit mass assisted suicide by poison in order to escape slavery and execution). In this case, I agree with you that your dignity as a human is more important than extending your life for another few months.

To OP:

Regardless of how religious you are, I suggest you spend the entire 25 hours of Yom Kippur either sleeping, praying, or deep in meditative thought. Devoting one of your 120ish days left fully to such soul-cleansing ought to be a beneficial thing to do.

Finally, if you have an exact date, could you let me know, either here or by PM? I would like to be able to say Yahrzeit for you, even though I don't know you and you live halfway across the world.

Only $100? I'm getting paid $150 to stand outside and hold a sign.

Before anyone goes all "Stop encouraging money in politics (rant rant rant)", let me say that I was going to be holding this sign regardless of whether I got paid - it's just nice that I am getting paid.

My town and state are safely blue, so all of the Dem candidates have all this money and don't know what to do with it. Instead of keeping it for the next election cycle, they're nice enough to pay us broke high school students to help them out.
