Basically they act in a way similar to people who were born Catholic but live secular lives. Do you think they are more prevalent in the Muslim world than people think?

Many of us. Because we're humans just like you, & we pick & we choose what to follow & when.

I, for an example, am a Shia Muslim and although I strongly identify as such, I haven't prayed in years, fasted half of last Ramadan, & I party & drink.

However, there are plenty that also follow all five pillars, but also lead secular lives.

The majority of us do so, & that is why you have multiple Muslim armies combating the terrorists in Syria & Iraq.

There's a reason we didn't roll over & keel. We fought, are fighting, & will continue to fight for the survival of all of our people, from the Christian to the Muslim to the ex-Muslim.

I wouldn't say that has to do more with culture than with what we Iraqis went through.

Four major wars and an invasion all within two generations really does fuck things up a bit to a society. You become so sick of being afraid & taking cover that you face it headlong.

My father fought in the iran-iraq war. He says after fighting for only a few battles & seeing all the death & mutilation, he said he didn't care if he was blasted to smithereens. He wanted it.

War is nasty. You lived it. I'm sure you know it better than I do.

As an Arab and many other Arabs that I know that aren't Gulf-Arabs (Saudi, Kuwaiti, Qatar, that region), they absolutely hate the Arab Al-Jazeera for their inflammatory reporting.

They constantly do pick sides and often do fan sectarian conflicts. Its the Arab version of fox news.

However, Al-Jazeera English is much different. They know that they have a large Western, educated demographic. They wanted to appeal to these people and did so by being highly professional and quite frankly, world-class reporting, remaining highly professional and unbiased as possible.

Tl;dr : Al-Jazeera English>Al-Jazeera Arabic

We hear a lot of racism against black people in Israel because some say it is ingrained in Judaism that God cursed one of Moses's sons and turned him black.

So my question is what is your experience with Israeli racism? Is it rampant?
