I did a project in University related to some of your questions i think. My professor took weather/seasonal/sun hour data and wrote a program that gave you the average sun hours you'd expect on a given day of the year and the intensity of light you'd get (more in summer vs less in winter).

We then took this model and figured out how many solar panels/what area of solar farm we would need to power a chemical plant we were designing.

I can't speak on the accuracy of OP's model, but similar methods have been done before and can be decently in depth about their considerations.
