What are the mistakes that are made frequently by begginer comediants?

If you had to make some must-follow rules for stand up comedians what it would be?

Do your friends and people around you take you seriously when you need it? I mean, everyone knows you are the funny guy, but sometimes you want to be serious about something, or do the things which aren't supposed to be funny and you need people to listen to you and not waiting for another situational joke... Is it a problem for you? How you deal with it?

What % of your jokes in sets are trully yours?

I mean it's incredibly hard to make one set just by yourself, sometimes you 'borrow' things, from known jokes, movies etc... Are you trying to avoid it or rather take and make it better/funnier?

Coming from time-management background, what tools and approaches do you recommend to reach one's self-defined goals?
