Hi Richard! Big fan of your work (so far!). A yearly ritual for me and my father is watching the Big Fat Quiz of the Year, and you're by far our favourite contestant on there. My question is in relation to that show, when the audience, and celebrity counterparts are laughing at a joke you make, how do you maintain such a straight face, without even a smirk. Any secrets?

Hi Romesh,

I recently saw your stand up sometime last year in Southend at the Cliffs Pavillion. The show was great but what really stood out for me, and I wonder if you remember it was the incident with the fly that would not leave you alone on stage, and your handling of it was to a comedic point absolutely perfect.

My question for you is of all your stand up gigs you've done, except for 'the fly' what has been your favourite bit of improvised comedy, based on something an audience member said or something that happened on stage where you thought about it afterwards thinking 'I fucking killed that bit, couldn't have handled it better'?

Really enjoy all the shit you do, you were great last year on BFQOTY too so thanks for the entertainment!

P.S. if you come back to southend can I show them this comment and get up front row?

Basically there was a fly that was buzzing around him for like half an hour, the crowd could see it for ages and were laughing randomly (Romesh must have thought the gig was going really well). Eventually he spotted it and asked if we could see it and everyone said yes. It would disappear and then return and kind of disrupted the show with the audience always paying more attention to the fly Romesh rolled with it perfectly, incorporating the fly in to his punchlines, eventually he started acting pissed off with the fly and walked away and started doing the set from behind the stage curtain which was great. He just handled it very well and with great improvised humour.

Pleasure was mine. Do you still Boycott Tescos because they fired the lad in the front row?

Question for Patton. What's a role you auditioned for, really wanted, and didnt get, that was the most gut wrenching to miss out on?

Alternatively, what was your most excited "you got the role" moment in your career?
