Hamas is a radical Islamic terrorist organization. They have said repeatedly that they don't just want the Palestinians to have their own state, but they want the entire Jewish state to be wiped out. Their holy sites are in Israel (which some might not even care about since a few Hamas rockets recently just missed Jerusalem). Hamas is the pure manifestation of anti-semitism so of course they are going to fire rockets into Israel rather than an Islamic country such as Egypt.
Now for number 2. I speculate that talking about Israeli oppression is the popular thing to do. A lot of people will hop on the bandwagon from limited facts and try to exude morality. You compared it to Kony, let's review that. Kony 2012 was pure propaganda. Sure he was a bad guy doing bad things but these things happened years ago, the facts are limited to where he is, the extent of what he did, and people do not know if he's even alive. Yet last year, you saw everyone's facebook statuses and rubber bracelets with the name Kony on it. Why out of all the thousands of worse people in the world (such as Assad or leaders of African countries who want to execute all gay people) does Kony stand out? Because propaganda made it popular. Hating on Israel is popular as well. Like OP said, Israel receives so much hate from the Arab world for the treatment of the Palestinians even though they are treating them arguably worse.
