Technically speaking, PS3's problem was that it launched at $500/600 while the 360 was at $300/400 and the Wii was $250. If both PS4 and X1 launch at $500-600, neither one will be at a disadvantage against the other due to price.

All of the music performed should be relevant to video games, full stop, be it people performing music from the games nominated that year or stuff like Deadmau5 doing his retro game inspired music (though stuff like that probably shouldn't be the big post-GOTY climax.)

I also felt like the categories were pretty clearly split between "AAA titles are clearly going to take this" and "pity awards for indie/mid-tier games." The only award that was won by a small game despite competing with a AAA was best performance, to by recollection. That said, I'm not sure if that's an issue with the awards format, the games that came out this year, or the judges. Undertale was clearly robbed from its rightful award for best music, though :P Maybe next year you expand the number of nominations for more general categories (GOTY, best music, etc.)?

In general it felt like the jury verdict wasn't just motivated by the Hogan thing in a vacuum, it was motivated by Gawker's long history of hurting people for clicks and giggles that was brought up over the course of the trial. That's why I felt like that in spite of Peter Thiel being a douchebag who arguably represents everything wrong with the Silicon Valley investor class Gawker's destruction via this trial was completely justified.
