OP is young and her doctors have decided she is healthy and strong enough to not only survive the transplant but to also lead a healthy life after the surgery. Transplant recipients are prioritized based on specific criteria. We are fortunate that caring and educated health professionals make these decisions and not random Reddit folks. “Not to be heartless”…not sure what you intended to be if not heartless but you hit a 10/10 on the heartless scale.

I have heard that some heart recipients notice new (and mostly temporary) food likes/dislikes that may have been the same as the donor. Did you notice anything like this?

My son’s friend received a Pell grant and attended the most expensive school in our state. Her step father is worth millions but because her mother doesn’t work and her real father, who’s is out of the picture, is not wealthy, she was able to get the grant. It was so wrong for them to do this. Is there anything in the works to better review potential recipients to ensure they truly need the money?

My badass uncle lived 25 + yrs with a transplanted heart. And I have a friend whose daughter has had two heart transplants. Like you, her first was when she was very young. I will be thinking positive thoughts about your upcoming transplant.
