Most states allows you to look up an inmate by their DC number. You have to say your last name and DC number every night for the officers. I'm not sure how easy it would be to hear a DC number through the solid high security doors (CM, PC, 30 days). In an open bay dorm it is very easy to hear a persons DC number. Everyone hears it. If they want to know why you're in prison the other inmates just listen and remember your DC. The next phone call they make to their "people" (usually family), they ask them to get on the computer and look up a DC.

This is some scary stuff. I used to infect people with subseven back in early 2000. Although i didn't go after personal information, I did mess with people on their own computers. Glad i ended up getting bored of this so called "hacking" phase.
