When you say you tested negative for hepatitis: do you mean that they found no liver inflammation, or that they found no evidence of viral RNA/proteins?

If the latter, you're fine. Only a percentage of those who are exposed to hep B or C actually develop it chronically. You were exposed to it since you have the antibodies. You may want to get tested again in 6 months to confirm that there is no viral presence.
