The idea is that after a day filled with mental tasks and planning, sleep consolidates and organizes the important thoughts and cleans out the trash, which makes for faster, smoother operating the next day.

It's really incredible how many people have no regard at all for truth.

But I guess that's just us projecting. "Surely others believe in empirical reality?" Nope.

I might be okay with it if they could at least get the teams right: the vast majority of the problems we face today are not Left vs. Right issues, but Aristocrat vs. Commoner.

A strong majority of Americans favor policies such as ending foreign wars, legalizing marijuana, and even Medicare For All, but our representatives and their corporate donors wouldn't dream of enacting the will of the people because it might mean fewer millions in their bank accounts.

Jeez. Lighten up, doc.

Why not just directly give people the housing and food and such they need?

Do you think the government simply has stockpiles of food and lodgings ready to hand out? They must be purchased one way or the other. It's much more simple and efficient for the government to send out money, and grants full agency to the citizens themselves.
