Why on earth are you surprised that a law that circumvents due process is being abused by authorities?

Hey guys. First of all, I wanted to say that I enjoyed the hell out of Iron Sky. It was one of the most delightfully absurd movies I've watched (that's a compliment, for what it's worth).

How in the world did the concept for it come about? I can't imagine someone just woke up one day, shot straight up in bed, and said "Moon Nazis... yes!"

Secondly, I know that here in the US, we have a very different view, culturally, of the historical events around WW2 and the Nazi ideology in general. Did your own views or the cultural views you live in shape any of the choices around the movies?

That, and how exactly would one go about enforcing a law about secured firearms? You can't go poking your head into peoples houses and saying 'Hey, all the guns all locked up?' and punishing people after their firearms are stolen is just going to make them hesitant to report it.

I like the idea of educational programs and awareness, but only if it's actually backed up by data and facts. The ridiculous lengths that people have gone to in order to fold, spindle and mutilate any data set to fit their agenda (both anti and pro gun) has made a lot of people, including myself, fairly dismissive of claims when they're made.

I'm afraid that stance is going to cost you the support of a lot of people, and not just over the gun issue. It's a fundamental issue with how the government interacts in our daily lives.

If you (and by you, I mean the authorities in general) can prove that I am not safe and sane, then you are more than welcome to restrict my rights, but YOU have to prove it, not me. If you can show via the established process that I'm a danger to others, take my guns, lock me up, do as you need to do. That being said, though, I should not be required to submit myself for your approval prior to living my life. This is fundamental, and the primary reason that I can't vote for most individuals who run as 'progressives.'

If you would like to restrict a persons rights, the burden to show why you should be allowed to do so is on you, not the other way around.
