My little is 23 now, was 13 when we got together. When he turned 18, I got him a job where I work. He left last year to go to college at CSU. We still chat every now and then but I miss seeing that guy on the regular.

I worked in renal transplant for a spell. The number of altruistic kidney donors is impressive. You're not alone, and generally people give it up for the same reasons you've listed. Occasionally someone would just say it felt right to give what they could to help someone in need. Thanks for helping multiple people in need and for doing the AMA to get word out that this is available for people who feel led to help others on a different level

Glad you got good care and are on the route to recovery. I've heard some patients say they had crazy ideas of what was going on. A lot say they think they're in some type of torture chamber and trying to find a way to fight out. I'm always interested to see the perspective from the other side.

Trauma ICU nurse here: if you were intubated, do you remember any of the events that went on while you were?

Stuttgart was a fantastic city. My wife and I stayed with friends in Untinjessengen (spelling?) near Tübingen. Such a beautiful part of the world. My young German friends love to come visit in America. One of the things that they say about it is that they love to see such national pride and American flags everywhere. Even today, they worry that overt display of German national pride will be viewed as nazi propaganda. What steps, if any, can the Germany and the rest of the world take to change this thought process?
