The disclosures really changed me personally. Information security and cryptography is something I somehow just not that aware of before, and now I can't get enough of it, it's the perfect confluence of all my interests. As someone who graduated college not sure what to do next, it feels so empowering to have a real goal now, I want to work on the tools that will protect people's rights and help people to use them. So thank you for everything you've done, I'm still amazed at how well planned and executed it all was.

If I delete emails, files from Drive, or even close my account, does Google really delete that data? I know a company of Google's size has many many backups all around the world and it takes some time for them to synchronize, but I want to know if Google keeps offline backups that are never recycled or purged.

For fuck's sake, Bill, this is terrible advice! There's not a cryptographer on the planet who would agree with you on this. This is the kind of crank nonsense that calls any claim you've ever made into question.

Everyone: use time-tested public algorithms. The security comes from the secrecy of the key, not the secrecy of the algorithm.
