Google fiber isn't taking over or coming anywhere remotely close to taking over. Google themselves doesn't have plans to "takeover". They hope their limited rollout shows other companies it can be done.
If anyone thinks Google fiber itself will ever legitimately be large competition for any cable MSO they are deluded as even Google doesn't think that is going to happen...

Yes, the site is hosted deep in the mountains by a company that owns said facilities. You control nothing and said company retains the ability to unplug said server anytime they choose to.

"Also, the people involved, the dealers, the growers, the shippers, etc..., instead of being at the proverbial "bottom of the bucket" in civilization, they now become the top of a multi-billion dollar industry."
Um, no. Legalized or not they can't suddenly come forward and say "oh it's legal now, ignore the various other laws I broke back when it was illegal such as tax evasion/money laundering"
If the federal ban was lifted corporations would take over in a heartbeat. You think some guy running a grow op even at full scale comes close to the amount a company like RJ Reynolds could produce if they switched some of their fields over? They already have packaging/distribution covered.
So, while I agree it should be legal it won't suddenly make all the people you mentioned respectable or rich
