Those are very wise words, not unlike many other things you've said in this thread. I'll likely be saying that same thing when people need to hear it.

I'd also just like to say that you do a really beautiful thing for your models and you seem to work from a place of genuine kindness and understanding. I'm grateful to know you're out there doing what you do.

What are your thoughts on On Authority?

Hey, Jeff. I'm a relatively recent fan of your work, only discovering your music within the past year. One of the things that immediately gripped me was how broad an emotional range you express over the course of an album. Whether it's an album like Scrambles or Goodbye, Cool World, I always feel like you invite the listener into your most painful insecurities, your greatest triumphs, and everything in between. I'm someone who struggles to relate to a happy song when I hear it, and yours always impact me. I think it's that very tendency to cover that emotional spectrum that does it. Could you comment on how the songs come together on an album and how they reflect your own state?

Interesting. I tend to think of On Authority as an embarassingly weak argument that only still gets trotted out because it has Engels' name on it, which I say with credit where it's due that Engels has plenty of other work that deserves a lot of respect. On Authority ultimately depends on a lot of flimsy naturalistic arguments and a pervasive incuriosity with actually understanding anarchism.

Cool. Which example would you cite of On Authority being correct? The Russian state capitalist country that later became a regular capitalist one? The Chinese state capitalist country with all the billionaires? The North Korean monarchy? The Vietnamese state capitalist country that later bevame a regular capitalist one? The Khmer Rouge? Increasingly liberal Cuba?
