Homosexuality promotes kin selection through k-selection and in doing that enhances species survival rates. Which is why it exists in all social mammals. Models show that a population with a percentage of kin-selective non-breeders will outperform a species without this trait 100% of the time. We see that the non-breeding homosexual individuals help raise the offspring of their siblings in nature. This enhances their survival chances and ensures that the trait propagates.

One particular study I remember reading on this topic focused on wolves. A fascinating read.
