But I believe that the essence of a Jewish state lies in its ethnicity, not religion. Claiming a state is Jewish is the same as claiming a state is Palestinian, French or German. So it's about having a state that can accommodate those who identify themselves as Jewish. My father is an atheist but identifies himself as Jewish.
