In comparison to what OP said, the cost for a more common pet snake (like a corn snake or ball python) is significantly lower.

It's easier to train dogs and rats to do something because they're social animals. They want to make you happy because that makes them happy and then it's happy happy time and everyone usually gets treats and belly rubs. There isn't really the same dynamic between people and reptiles. It's more like "I'm escaping. Peace out."
