Good evening Dr. Blair! I'm a father to two daughters, ages 12 and 4, respectively. How do I approach the subject of sex to my eldest, who's current on puberty stage? Would it be better if my wife would talk to her about it instead? Personally, I feel awkward about it.

Thanks very much Doc! I'll take your advice to heart, and hopefully we can bond with my daughter about it without the awkwardness. Stay safe always!

I think it really helped how he emphasized body autonomy, his love and his support for me.

Yup, I basically did the same to my daughter, to the point where I myself would buy her sanitary napkins for her periods (we're still in lockdown in Manila, Philippines, so I'm the only one who can go outside and do so).

if you’re not comfortable with it maybe get her mum to tell her she can always talk to you?

I told my wife about me holding back whenever I talk to my daughter about sex, because I'd rather have them do it, out of my respect to my daughter. After all, I think she's well aware of the consequences, aside from us constantly reminding her to finish her education first before entering a serious relationship. So far, she has taken our advice seriously.
