It's been 72 years since an atomic bomb was used to kill people, and I know a lot of disarmament and arms control experts have been working overtime to try and convey the seriousness and horror of nuclear war to a world that's a bit inured to it all, but I still think a lot of us don't get the ramifications.

I think this is a huge part of the problem with the conversation recently. It's been so long since nukes were used that the general public really takes for granted how horrible of a thing they are. And it's not just ww2 that's far back now. A good percentage of the population at this point is young enough that they weren't even around for the cold war. They never really had to ponder the concept of nuclear annihilation every day. So they throw around the 'just nuke em' casually without really understanding the ramifications.

I think that someone needs to make a modern version of something like threads or the day after. No holds barred, a movie with modern cinematography that really showcases how awful nuclear war would be. That might help give this generation some perspective.

Did you continue flying in any capacity after the war for recreation or as a career?

What are your feelings on motorcycle stunt riders? St Louis has one of the best scenes in the county as well as ROC etc. Is it something that the average police officer has to deal with so often that they hate it or no?
