that's unfortunate... it's actually the first I've heard of the brand let alone Persil Black, I'm going to have to try it!

Maybe it is because my taste hasn't changed much in the past few years.

This makes me wonder how much your tastes can change without those memories. I'm no expert on how tastes/opinions change but I think it's much more complex than just learning new facts to sway you.

I mean, yeah that cable is sold as an accessory and there's one bundled with the device, but that doesn't mean it can't also use 3.0 :P they are backwards compatible after all, the cable doesn't tell us anything.

Is the positioning of the NFC chip in the new phones (at the top of the rear) indicative of a push from Google to standardize this feature across all devices that support Android Pay in the future?

This seemed like a "Duh" moment with the iPhone 6 where Apple swoops in after years of no NFC and makes the simple choice to put it at the end of the device which will be facing the payment terminal by default, yet it's a HUGE change to usability for such a small distinction.
