As far as driving, my father is a 48-year-old man with oculocutaneous Albinism and he can drive with the use of bioptic glasses. His eye doctor is a low vision specialist who suggested the bioptic glasses for him when he was 27. Now he's been driving with an unrestricted license in Indiana for 20 years and has had 3 different pairs of bioptic glasses. Not sure what the California laws are regarding bioptics (for example, you can't use them at night in Florida, I think), but it's something to look into.

The frustrating thing for me is that we’re still being asked to support our local stations, it feels antiquated when I literally don’t have any device that can tune in to my “local station” and all of my consumption of NPR media is via podcast feeds.

I spend ~$50/month on Patreon pledges for various podcasts and YouTube channels that I like. I listen to a ton of NPR podcasts, but it feels so abstract to donate to my local station and hope that it trickles back to the shows I love. I wish that NPR would adopt a Patreon-type model where you feel like you’re directly supporting those shows, even if there’s a statement that says “25% of pledges to our show go to support the parent organization”

My father is also a Latino with albinism and has the same experience and has fun surprising people with his Spanish fluency. He used to teach at a school with a large Latino population and the students weren't expecting Mr. [obviously Latino last name] to be a man who looks like Colonel Sanders. They'd let down their guard, not expecting him to be fluent so they'd chat in Spanish before classes and he would enjoy just jumping into a conversation before class sometime in the first weeks.

Now to learn to pop wheelies... That's probably not how this works, is it?

The New York Times had a front page article (but below the fold) about the protests in Kiev yesterday. Searching for "Ukraine" on CNN gives a solid list of articles about the protests. There is definitely some coverage, but I agree it's not plastered all over.
