Is it difficult for you to see things when they don't move?

Back in 2010/2011 my school's VA liaison filed me under the wrong chapter of the GI bill and I was overpaid. The DOD and the school charged me for the difference saying I owed over $10k. I contested this because it wasn't my doing, but an administrative error. The VA (and school) stopped answering my calls and letters and the VA garnished $2k from me even though they were "investigating" my case, prohibiting me from flying home to see my family that year. It took 3 years of letters to the senator of Florida who would then forward my letter to the VA on his letterhead to get any resolution. What should have been a 2 year degree took 5 years. And at the end of it, the VA simply said my debt had been removed. No explanation, no reasoning, nothing. So I doubt the VA will just forgive any overpayment.
