Apple has been quick to order second sesons of shows they want to invest in and have often done that before the first episode has aired (Severance & Big Door Prize both did this). They haven't officially confirmed this and likely won't until about halfway through the first season to give it a marketing boost. IMO this is a good strategy to build a library as long as the execs that fund these things believe in the content and sort of the opposite of Netflix's "data driven" model which takes many chances with lots of first seasons, many of which won't see second ones.

I have no insider information, though given the budget and scope of the story I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens here.
