As the somewhat-foreigner (Canadian) that I am, I'm curious as to what sort of reputation other countries' militaries have with the US Army outside of the spokespeople that we hear on the news. I know one of my cousins went on exchange to West Point (Armour Officer), and was treated pretty darn well so far as he would tell us, but, what do you think is the general consensus? If you had to guess, which country do you think is closest, military-wise, to the US?

Honestly? If we're talking about the US under Republican leadership, that kind of investment is never going to happen, at least not until Florida is so underwater it can't be a swing state. Space has seen lots of money invested by Republican interests, and if you can't fix Earth, we can at least summon the political will to build a working escape pod.

For the rest of the world? Space travel is one of the few places true limits are reached. We've gained terrific amounts of practical technology from the space race, and realistically, some things, like Mars terraforming, have dual purpose in attempting to save the Earth as well.

The US in the 1960s was going through the Civil Rights movement, a war in Vietnam and nuclear annihilation looming over the world. We can't get so bogged down in the muck of everyday existence that we stop looking to the stars for a renewed purpose, as our fathers and forefathers did.

LLM advancements seem well-adapted to augmenting/automating a ton of white-collar jobs, while self-driving and warehouse robotics seem stalled. Do you see any potential AI or high-tech projects doing the same for harder labour, like farming, mining, trash management, or the service economy? How do you see the growth of AI affecting the future labour market for people?

I always hoped it would be us writing poetry while the machine fed and maintained us, not the other way around.
