My girlfriend got diagnosed with severe depression. We've both had a lot of awful relationships in the past that taught us how to not act, so we're a pretty healthy couple. But sometimes it's really hard when she's sad due to nothing but a chemical imbalance and it seems like there's nothing I can do to help her. Is there any advice you can give me?

She's on path to treatment but that's still a few weeks away.
